Wedding Dance 3

Continuation of Wedding Dance 2

“Eman sigurado ka ba ayos lang tong suot ko?” she asked as she twist and turn in front of the mirror as she straightens her knee leveled blue ruffled white dress that perfectly fits her skinny shape.

“Ano ka ba girl? Parang ikaw na nga ang ikakasal e! Belo nalang ang kulang at si Sir Chief mo, ay! Este yung groom mo pala” Eman chuckled as he straightens Maya’s hair.

“For sure merong wedding dance doon for the newlyweds and for the couples” he added as he pulled the chair next to Maya.

“Eman kasal ni Ms. Liza ang ipinunta ko doon hindi yung wedding dance wedding dance na yun” she answered with her pouty lips and her mood swung from being excited to the other way around.

“Oh roomy anong problema mo?” Eman asked with concern on his tone and face.

Maya thought if her parents had that kind of celebration during their wedding, if they had a church wedding or just a civil wedding.

Another thing that made her feel a little bit sad is that, she might be out of placed during the wedding dance portion because she has no partner or a date to dance with. She took a long heavy breath and she picked her purse. The two headed towards the condo’s lobby, Eman will drop her off in the church because he has a Saturday class that’s why he can’t accompany Maya in the wedding and besides the reception is just right next to the church so she doesn’t need to worry about how she could get there.

When they went out of the condo, a black BMW car stopped in front of them, the high tint of the window made the driver invisible, the two wondered if who was this ‘VIP’ that parked in front of the lobby. Then a tall, eye-glassed man stepped out of the car wearing his newly-tailored black suit that perfectly shaped his well-muscled body with blue long sleeve under it and a gray and black thinly striped necktie.

“OMG! Roomy sabi ko na nga ba sa isip ko e susunduin ka ng Sir Chief mo” Eman whispered with the forced smile on his face so that Richard won’t notice that Eman was talking about him.

Maya tweaked few strands of Eman’s hair as she locked her attention to the god-like man who was approaching them.

“Papunta ka na ba sa wedding?” Richard asked as he walked towards the giggling guy and the jaw dropped lady.

“O—opo Sir Chief, ihahatid po ako ni Eman” she answered and speaking seems to be very laborious to her.

“Akala ko  ba wala kang kasama?” he interrogated.

“Ahh—ihahatid ko lang po siya Sir Chief ay, Sir Richard pala may pasok po kasi ako” Eman butted in.

“How about after the reception?” he asked, his eyes are starting to narrowed because Maya wasn’t paying attention to him, her gaze was still locked to where she first saw Richard.

Eman nudge his friend and Maya almost fell from the two stepped stairs of the entrance but fortunately, Richard was right next to her, he was able to stop her from falling, by then she was back to herself.

“Ayyy sorry po Sir Chief, ano ka ba Eman nakakahiya kay Sir Chief” she pouted her lips as she returned to her feet and she slapped Eman’s shoulder because of what he did.

“No it’s ok” Richard assured her.

“Ayy-roomy malelate na pa la ako sa class ko mauna na ako ha. See yah!” Eman pressed his cheeks with hers and he vanished with the blink of an eye.

Maya didn’t know what to do; she was left with him, her Sir Chief. Richard looked at her intently, to her eyes and down to her red velvety colored lips, his looks tells her that he wanted to kiss them passionately. Then Richard noticed that she was staring at him.

“Ah, by the way I came here to fetch you I thought you’ll be riding a taxi” he spoke to shake those thoughts that popped into his mind.

“Ah hindi po Sir Chief—“ she wasn’t able to finish her answer when Richard gently touched her lips with his index finger.

“I’ll be your date today kaya bawal ang Sir Chief” he spoke with his charming yet deadly looks.

“Tara na po Sir Chief baka matraffic po tayo” she segue the topic because the butterflies in her tummy were starting to tremble.

She motioned towards the car but Richard with his long legs and fast feet, he reached the car before Maya did, he opened the door for her and waited until she settled and he closed the door then he walked briskly to the driver’s seat, he turned on the engine and he stepped on the accelerator. The condo was an hour and a half ride from the Lim household with the average of 80 kph and the church was about 30 minute ride from the condo with the same speed.

“Liza told me about the wedding dance, it’s a tradition daw, first the newlyweds” he started a conversation to break up the silence that filled the car.

He wasn’t able to finish his statement when his phone rang. It was Engr. Yamagutchi, he was asking him where he is because the ceremony was about to start.

“We’ll be there in 10 minutes” he answered then he hung up and returns his one hand in the steering wheel.

“Sir” she stopped when she saw Richard’s eyebrow lifted she rephrased her statement she cleared her throat before continuing.

“Richard, bakit hindi mo pa la sinama si ma’am Nikki or sir Luke?” she asked with her twinkling eyes that were locked to him.

“Nikki has a meeting with her West Teatro group si Luke naman nagpaalam my pupuntahan daw sila ng mga friends niya” he answered his gaze was still focused on the road and his tone was still, no emotions.

Maya just nodded and was contented to his answer. She didn’t add or asked anything else she thought Richard was not in the mood to make a little bit more explanations or entertain several follow-up questions.

We’re here” he stop in the side of the church, he unbuckled his seatbelt then he quickly went out of the car to open the door for his ‘date’.

But still his face was so empty; she can’t see any emotion on his face. He was silent because he was not able to tell her what he was about to say before Engr. Yamagutchi called.

“Ang ganda naman dito” her eyes where looking everywhere with her amusement, Richard said nothing.

As gentlemen always do with their date, he bent his arm to his torso motioning to her that she needs to loop her arm with his. She did after her second thoughts.

They went inside the church and sat on the third row in front. There she saw some familiar faces, which she saw when they had practice on the site and some from the office when she frequented there during the screening for Abby’s nanny and some are strangers to her.

The ceremony started, they silently sat on their seats as the ceremony went on.

“You may now kiss the bride” the priest announced, the sponsors and the visitors clapped their hands and Maya as being so emotional, tears roll down her face as she smiles while she claps her hand.

“Naiinggit ka no?” Richard whispered to her.

She looked at him with the ‘why do you know’ look. Richard winked at her and returned his attention to the newlyweds.

The groom carried his bride to the entrance of the restaurant with the red carpet that led to their elevated couple’s seat. Next to them are the tables and chair for their family and on the other side was for their sponsors. The visitors will be seated on the side leaving a space in the center for the program after the invocation. The invocation was led by Liza’s sister, then the emcee called for the newlyweds for the slicing of the cake, then the toasting of the wine, the couple will drink the wine and interlocks their arms to each other. After that, they decide to have the buffet and the program will resume after they ate. When most of the guest and sponsors were through with their food, one started to hit the glass with the fork, then the others followed, it was a sign that the newlyweds should kiss. Then as requested they did. The emcee gets the microphone and the program resumed, the traditional wedding dance started. The newlyweds hit the floor first then the father and daughter dance together with the mother and groom. Then they proceeded in the traditional tossing of the bouquet, the bride tosses her bouquet to all the single women in attendance. Richard was asked and the groom pleaded for him to join, besides he was single but with kids, though. So as not to be called a kill joy he joined, he won’t lose his dignity if he does. Maya was the one who catch the bouquet she was so shy when most of the guests were looking at her. Richard was shocked when the garter fell on his head then he got it. The emcee called the one who got the bouquet and the one who got the garter. . Immediately after the tossing, a chair is set in the middle of the dance floor. He was asked to put the garter on Maya’s legs.

He looked intently to Maya, his looks seems to be telling her ‘is it ok?’ and then she sat in the chair as the emcee asked her to, Richard knelt on the floor and he slightly raised Maya’s dress then he slid the garter up to her thigh. The rest of the guests applauded for their participation.

The music entertainment played mellow songs that were absolutely ‘no-go’s’ music. Most of the couples went off their seats and hit the dance floor, the two were left on their table.

“Shall we?” Richard asked as he offers her his hand.

Maya humbly held his hand, his touch woke up the butterflies that where pampered with the delicious meal that they ate a while ago and the electrifying tenderness of his hand sends shivers to her spine. Her cheeks were turning red and she starts to be hoity-toity.

When they hit the floor, the song I Love You Baby was played. Richard pulled her closer to him, he can smell the scent of the Korean noodle that she ate a while ago, but she, all she could smell was his Creed perfume that soothes her nostrils.

“Are you enjoying?” he asked as they slowly glided with the rhythm of the music.

“O—oo naman, maganda naman yung flow ng program saa yung setting maganda” she answered with her gaze locked to somewhere.

“Yun lang?” he asked as he lifted her chin to meet her gaze.

Her eyes moved from side to side, she run out of words because this time, their lips were inches away and with just one wrong move and she’ll trip and her lips might land with his.

“Uhm—uhm” she chose to hum and not say any word to play in the safer place.

Richard placed his hand on her hip and he pulled her closer than before, her chest was pressed to his well-muscled chest, she can hear his heart beat.

“Relax” he murmured.

That was just the time when she put all her worries and doubts away and savored the moment, her stiffness gradually drifted.

“I’ll take care of you” he murmured again and this time it was followed with the kiss on her forehead.

“There’s no safer place than to be with me” he added and then he hugged her tight and she hugged him back with happiness that wrapped their faces.

The crowd clapped their hands, the two didn’t know that they were the ones being applauded. They freed each other from the hug and they chuckled as they see the guests watching them. Richard mouthed the words she dreamt of.
