A/N: Psalm 62:1-2
My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
God bless everyone!

“How’s your flight?” Richard attempted to make light conversation during the first few minutes of the ride to Emman’s condominium.
“Okay lang.” Matipid na sagot ni Maya.
“Do you have a flight tomorrow?” he asked again without looking at her direction as he focused on the road ahead. It’s beginning to rain again and looks like it’s going to be a heavy downpour.
“Wala.” Maya gave him another curt response, keeping her head bowed down with her hands folded in her lap.
Richard decided to drive quietly as he sighed his frustration. The remainder of the trip to Emman’s condo was a deafening silence, both of them engulfed in their own thoughts. Klag, klag, klag. They were almost fifteen minutes away from their destination when the car suddenly churned and Sir Chief was forced to pull over to the side of the road, turning his hazard lights on.
Nag-angat ng ulo si Maya at may pag-aalalang tumingin sa kanya. “Ser Chief, ano ‘yon?”
He pressed his lips in objection, “I think we have a flat tire.” He stared ahead as the wiper continues to swish at the rain splattered windshield. The rain is getting heavy and there’s almost zero visibility outside. “So, Sir Chief na lang ulit ako ngayon?”
He leaned back in his seat, the entire day catching up with him. He suddenly felt tired. This day is not going the way he pictured it to be. He closed his eyes then rubbed his mid forehead. He let out a deep sigh and breathe slowly a couple of times without opening his eyes as if to calm himself.
Maya frowned, unable to understand what Sir Chief is saying at first, then her eyes grew big as it hit her that he was referring to her new term of endearment. She studied the lines etched in his mouth and felt his weariness. Without those piercing eyes that turn her knees to jelly whenever he stared at her, she had the time to take a closer look at his features and realized how her heart was completely captivated by this wonderful man. She couldn’t bear to see him distressed like this. She loves him too much to hurt him. “Sorry, Mahal. Nasanay lang akong tawagin kang Ser Chief.” This time she put a heavy stress on the word ‘Mahal’.
She felt him stiffen. “Say it again, please.” He said in a soft voice, so soft she almost thought she didn’t hear it.
Maya felt his vulnerability. She would go to the ends of the earth for him. She uttered what he wanted to hear. “Mahal… Mahal na mahal kita, Mahal kong Ser Chief.”
He could see the smile in her voice even as he kept his eyes closed. “Mmmnnn…” he murmured, savoring the sweetest words he’s ever heard. “This has been a very long day for me. Problem with the hangar, that stressful meeting, and Stephanie’s appearance. I was so looking forward to a quiet night with you, you know.” He opened his eyes and gazed at her as he said the last statement. “When I’m with you, I feel so relaxed. Nawawala ang pagod ko. I can just sit and watch you all day and feel content. My world is a better place ‘pag kasama kita, Maya.”
Sir Chief is looking at her with passion while he’s professing his feelings toward her that Maya felt the shivers run up her spine all the way down to the tip of her toes.
She giggly covered her face, “Aaawww… Mahal naman e. Super pinapakilig mo na naman ako.”
The intensity in his eyes matches the burning fervour that she’s beginning to feel inside. Sir Chief always has a way of making her warm all over. “I love you so much, Maya. Please don’t get upset with me again.”
“Ikaw kasi e.” She looked down at the hands in her lap, shying away from the warmth of his gaze.
“Anong ako?” Sir Chief held her chin between his thumb so she had no choice but to look at him. “Ako na nga ‘yung na-harassed e. Tapos inaway mo pa ‘ko.” He tried to look somber, like a pitiful child but his twinkling eyes gave him away.
“Sorry na,” she gave him a doe-eyed naive look. “Hmp! Kung ‘di lang kita mahal.” She played along with his teasing, lightly punching him in the arm.
Richard chuckled softly, enjoying their playful banter. What started as an innocent laugh ended as a moan as his eyes riveted in Maya’s soft inviting lips, drawing him close, like a moth to a flame. I shouldn’t be doing this. He groaned as he tried to fight with himself but the temptation was too powerful to resist as he helped himself to taste the sweet red lips awaiting his kiss.
