“O roomie, kumusta ang blind date?” asked Emman teasingly to Maya as soon as she entered the condo. Maya still looking very much irritated, “Hay naku Emman! Nightmare! Total nightmare!” growled Maya. Emman could only laugh seeing Maya totally irritated. “Kala mo kung sinong gwapo at napaka-galing! May pa-french French pa siyang nalalaman! Naku! Sinira niya talaga ang gabi ko!” complained Maya. Emman, still giggling, “So dinaig pa pala niya si Freddie Krueger?” he asked. With a confused look, Maya asked, “Huh? Sinong Freddie Krueger?” “Yung monster sa Nightmare on Elm Street!” said Emman with a grin. For the first time after her nightmarish dinner, Maya laughed. “Hay nako Emman! Kayang kaya mo talaga ako patawanin. At oo. Dinaig pa niya si Freddie Krueger!” said Maya, grinning back at Emman. “Ayan. Naka smile ka na ulit. Tatanda ka lang agad kung patuloy kang sisimangot niyan. Pero roomie, gusto kong madinig ang buong kwento tungkol jan sa nightmare on elm street date mo. Halika dali at kwento ka na!” said an excited Emman.

“Finally you’re home! So how was it? How was it??” said Rafi, obviously expecting some good news. Richard, not knowing what to tell Rafi, simply shrugged his shoulders in response. “Oh c’mon Chard!” said Rafi, sounding impatient, “anong nangyari? How did it go? How was she?” she asked. “I don’t know,” he answered simply. “What do you mean you don’t know? C’mon Chard! Magkwento ka naman kung anong nangyari,” said Rafi impatiently. Richard let out a sigh, determined not to spill anything to Rafi, “Rafi, let’s not talk about it anymore. I’m tired and it’s already late. Matutulog na ako,” he said, then turned around to walk to his bedroom. “Chard! You’re so unfair! Magkwento ka muna! Chard!” shouted Rafi at Richard’s retreating back. Richard continued to walk towards his room, “Goodnight Rafi!” he shouted back and closed the door shut. Rafi, left with no other choice, folded her arms, stomped her feet in frustration and retired to her room. “You’re not gonna get away with this Chard. Humanda ka bukas. Hinding hindi ka na makakatakas!” she thought.

The next day, Richard left early for work. He intentionally left earlier than usual to get away from Rafi’s interrogation. He knows fairly well that his bestfriend won’t stop bugging him for answers. So even with the lack of sleep, he was forced to leave the house early.

“Manang si Richard ba gising na?” Rafi asked Manang Fe as she sat at the dining table to have breakfast. “Naku! Eh kanina pa siya umalis. Hindi na nga nag-almusal at nagmamadali daw siya. May importante daw siyang kailangang asikasuhin sa opisina eh,” said Manang Fe. “Ah ganoon po ba Manang? Sige po salamat. Kumain na po ba kayo? Sabayan niyo na po ako,” said Rafi, smiling warmly. “Salamat nalang Rafi pero kumain na kasi ako. Sige at doon muna ako sa kusina. Tawagin mo nalang ako kung may kailanganin ka pa,” said Manang Fe, smiling back. “Ok po manang. Salamat,” said Rafi. While taking her breakfast, she decided to give Richard a call but he wouldn’t answer. He opted to send him messages instead but she didn’t receive any response either. Determined to really know what transpired over dinner, she contemplated on calling Maya instead. “Hello, Rafi?” answered Maya on the other line. “Hi Maya! Sorry to disturb you ha. Nagpapahinga ka pa yata eh,” said Rafi in an apologetic tone. “Ay hindi naman. Hindi ka naman nakaka-istorbo. Kanina pa ako gising. May flight kasi ako ngayon eh. May problema ba?” Maya asked. “Ah wala naman. Mangangamusta lang naman. So how was dinner?” asked Rafi, expecting a positive response from Maya. Maya, hesitant to answer, “Ah yung dinner. Ano. Umm. Ok naman siya. Oo. Ok naman,” she said. “So did you enjoy?” asked Rafi. “Oo naman! Maayos at masarap namang kausap si Richard,” lied Maya. “Really? Good! That’s really nice!” exclaimed Rafi, apparently giddy at Maya’s response, then continued, “sabi ko naman sayo mabait ang bestfriend ko eh. So any plans for a second date?” Rafi asked expectantly. “Ha? Second date? Naku. Ano. Ay! Rafi sorry pero kailangan ko ng umalis. Male-late pa kasi ako sa flight ko. Pasensya na,” said Maya, trying to make an excuse as the thought of having a second date with Richard startled her. “Ah ganon ba. Ok. I’m not going to hold you up. But do tell me when you’ll be free again so we could set up another date ok? Bye Maya. Have a safe trip,” said Rafi, happily. “Ok, bye,” answered Maya. After they hung up the phone, Maya finally sighed in relief. “Date? With Freddie Krueger?? Ano yun nightmare on elm street part 2?? No way! Hay nako Rafi! Kung alam mo lang kung gaano kasama ng ugali niyang bestfriend mo!” she thought then left the condo to proceed to the airport.

“So how’s my princess?” asked Captain James Ventura, pilot and CEO of Time airways, as he proceeded to the table where Maya and Emman are seated, inside TA’s cafeteria. “Hello my prince! Ok naman po ako,” said Maya as she stood up to greet James and gave him a peck on the cheek. “Hello Emmy! How are you?” greeted James to Emman. Emman all giddy at how James addressed him, “More than ok James. In fact, mas lalong naging ok nung dumating ka,” he said, which made Maya and James laugh. As James seated himself to join the two, he asked, “May flight kayo?” “Oo, pero domestic lang. Manila to Gen San then back,” answered Maya. “Ah. By the way. Do you guys have anything to do on Friday next week?” asked James. “Ako wala. Ikaw Maya?” asked Emman. “Umm. Wala pa naman. Why?” asked Maya as she turned to James. “The annual Aviation Summit will be held on Friday and TA will be the host this year. I don’t normally attend it as it just bores me. Wala naman kasing kung ano mang exciting na pinag-uusapan dun. Di bale kung maraming mga attractive girls akong makikita dun ang kaso karamihan ng andun ay mga boring businessmen,” he explained which earned a chuckle from Emman and Maya.

“Ikaw talaga James. Definitely, karamihan ng makikita mo dun businessmen. It’s a summit in the first place, not a theater house or a bar,” chuckled Maya. James teasingly slapped Maya’s forehead then said, “Ikaw talaga princess! Tinitira mo na ako ha,” grinned James. “Eh James, ano naman kinalaman namin sa Summit?” asked Emman. “Well here’s the thing. I can’t make an excuse or be absent on the said Summit. And since, I can bring in guests naman, I thought of you guys. That way, I am able to attend it and not get bored. Pag kayo kasi ang kasama ko, I never had a single dull moment. Lalo na sa kadaldalan nitong princess ko!” teased James as he pinch Maya’s nose. “Ah ganon?” said Maya, feigning a hurt tone, then continued, “eh kung hindi kami pumayag? Madaldal pala ha! Hmp” snubbed Maya. “Ito naman! Hindi na mabiro!” said James as he poke Maya’s side. “Eh what’s in it for us?” asked Maya, raising a brow at James. “Oo nga naman James. Ano naman ang mapapala namin sa pagsama sayo sa summit na yan?” backed Emman. “Well,” said James as he sat up straight and straightened his collar, “let’s just say that you’ll have an opportunity to be with the most gorgeous pilot around,” grinning conceitedly. “Ang yabang!” said Maya and Emman in unison then laughed. “Ay nako James! Kung yan lang ang mapapala namin di bale nalang! Di ba Emman?” “Tama ka roomie,” said Emman then gave Maya a high-five.

James giving the two a pleading look, “Guys naman o! Princess, Emmy, pumayag na kayo? Please?? Matitiis niyo ba akong mamatay sa kabagutan?” asked James. Emman and Maya looked at each other then said in unison, “Oo!” then laughed. James giving them a sad look, “Sige ganyan kayo. Princess, ginaganyan mo na ako.” “Ay nako James hindi bagay sa iyo,” teased Maya. James just gave them a sad look and remained quiet for a while. “Ok, ok. Since wala naman kaming gagawin ni Emman non, sige, sama na kami,” smiled Maya. “Talaga?? Wala ng bawian yan ha?” asked James happily. “Oo. Pero may utang ka sa aming lunch ha?” said Emman. “Sure! Kung gusto niyo kahit dinner pa!” said James more than willingly. “Call!” said Maya and Emman.

“Sir, here are the documents that need to be reviewed and signed,” said Liza as she stood across Richard’s table. “Ok. Just leave them on my table,” said Richard. “Also sir, let me remind you of the annual summit next Friday to be held at Time Airways,” added Liza. “Ok. Tell Gutierrez and Yamaguchi to attend,” said Richard. “I’m sorry sir but Gutierrez will be in Singapore on that day while Engr. Yamaguchi, on the other hand, is on VL that day,” explained Liza. With brows furrowed, “Isn’t there anyone else we can send on my behalf?” said Richard in an impatient tone. Liza, already sensing the irritation of Richard, answered, “I’m sorry sir but there’s none. And we cannot afford not to send anyone there since we are tasked to discuss the current green MRO campaign of the industry.” Richard, left with no other choice, let out a sigh, “Ok. I’ll attend then. Just prepare the necessary documents needed including the presentation. Just make sure everything’s set,” said Richard. “Ok sir. Will that be all?” asked Liza. “Yes. That will be all,” said Richard as he dismissed Liza.
