A/N : Salamat po sa paghihintay!

….

Nagseselos ka ba?

Richard shook his head at the thought. He doesn’t really know if he is jealous. Ever since he became an angel, he cannot recall those strange feelings. It’s like he’s been reformatted, and if he was fixed, he would disappear.

Richard doesn’t have any choice so he flew to search for Maya. He saw her with a guy near the fountain. She seems to be so happy and all.

He must be Simon.

He flew near her, crossed his arms, making sure that Maya sees her.

“Ay Simon, may ipapakilala ako sa’yo.” Maya said when he spotted her angel.

Richard on the other hand, only raised his brows when he heard Maya said that.

“Sino?” Simon asked.

“Ay ano, wala pala haha. Akala ko kasi siya yun.”

Richard could only smile at Maya’s excuse.

“Ahh. Kumusta ka na dun sa bago mong trabaho?” Simon asked.

“Ayos lang naman Simon. Masaya.”

“Yun ba yung sa boss mong masungit? Aba, himala ata ‘yan. Sabi mo dati parang gusto mo nang magresign ah, tapos ngayon masaya na.”

“Oo nga eh. Pero ayos na, masaya na sa trabaho. Nabait na si Sir eh.”

“Aba, nagamitan mo rin ng powers mo no?”

“Naku Simon. Hindi powers ‘to.” Then Maya looked at Richard. She smiled at him. “Regalo ‘to.”

Richard felt his heart skip a beat with what Maya did.

Simon and Maya continued to talk while Richard is just smiling foolishly at the side.

Wait, what’s wrong with you, Richard? Why are you smiling like that?

Richard shook his head at those thoughts. Bakit nga ba nagkakaganito ako?

Before he realize, Maya and Simon are finally saying farewell at each other. Maya approached him afterwards and she took out her phone.

“Tara na? Uwi na tayo. Madami pa akong trabahong gagawin.”

When they reached her condo, Richard sat on the couch again and took a nap.

Hay nako, Maya. Kailangan mong masanay na may pogi na laging uupo at iidlip dyan sa sofa.

Then she frowned.

Hindi pala ako pwedeng masanay. Hindi siya habambuhay nandito.

Maya did her daily routine. She ate, took a bath and worked. She needs to get started on Roberto’s assignment to her. She doesn’t have work tomorrow for it was Saturday. And the report must be done on Monday.

“You’re in for a big surprise, you know?” Maya was startled when Richard spoke beside her.

“Richard naman eh. Alam kong kaya mong lumipad pero please, ‘wag ka namang susulpot kung saan-saan! Nakakanerbyos eh.”

Richard gave a chuckle. “Sorry.”

“Anong surprise?”
“Secret. I don’t want to ruin Roberto’s fun. Basta galingan mo sa report na ‘yan. If you want, I can help you.”
“Hindi na Richard, gusto kong gawin ‘to mag-isa. Saka sabi mo nga diba, I’m in for a big surprise. Kaya dapat ako lang ang gagawa.”

“Fine, suite yourself.”

Richard flew to the opposite chair where Maya is. He watched her work from there, watching her every move. Maya seemed to be comfortable working with her laptop and with some papers stacked inside some folders but there’s something that he’s not comfortable with.

“Wag mong buksan lahat ng folders na may lamang documents. Baka magkahalo-halo sila.” He said.

“Hayaan mo na. Saka ang hirap kapag bukas-sarado pa.” Maya answered without looking back at him.

Richard sighed. “That’s why I use sticky notes when I made reports like that.” He irritatingly said.

Maya was shocked at what Richard said.

“You remembered something!!!” she exclaimed.

“What?”

“You remembered something! You used to work like me! Sinabi mo na gumagamit ka ng sticky notes kapag ganito yung trabaho mo! O gee Richard! What else do you remember?”

Richard was equally shocked at what happened.

I do remember that I used sticky notes. But how? How did I remembered –

“Huy Chard! Ano pang natatandaan mo?”

“I – I don’t know.” This is wrong.

“Hmm. Mag-iisip ako.” Maya said.

This is bad. This is the last thing I wanna do.

“Maya listen – “

“Live Jesus in our hearts!” she said.

“Fo – forever. “ that word suddenly escaped from his mouth.

“Aha! Lasallian ka! Sang La Salle ka galing?” Maya continued to ask.

“Here in Manila.” He blurted out again. What’s happening to me?

“Ang galing! Dun din ako eh! Edi magka-alma mater pala tayo? Anong course mo?”

“Me-mechanical Engineering.” He whispered.

“Ang galing! O diba, naaalala mo naman lahat eh! Ano pa ba?” Maya continued to talk.

Richard is still bewildered at what’s happening. He’s not doing anything, yet Maya can trigger his memories. He knows that if this continues, he will be gone soon.

“Maya –“

“Anong surname mo?”

Richard fell silent.

What is my surname?

“Huy Richard, anong apelyido mo?”

“I-I don’t know.”

“Hay nako, Richard, wag mo na kong lokohin.”
“No, I honestly don’t know, Maya.”

“Ehh anong pangalan ng tatay mo?”

Richard shook his head. “I can’t also remember.”

“Ha? Eh bakit yung mga maliliit na details lang yung alam mo? Sige, mag-try pa tayo –“
“Maya, stop. Please.” Richard flew in front of Maya’s face. They’re so close that Maya started to feel uncomfortable.

“Stop asking me questions. Gusto mo bang mawala agad ako?” he continued.

Maya backed out a bit from her seat. “H – ha? A – anong mawawala ka agad?”

Richard sighed. “That’s my limit. Once I’ve fully recovered my mortal memory, I’ll be gone.”

“A – ano?” That’s the only thing Maya said.

“Sabi ko sa’yo diba? Hindi ako laging nasa tabi mo. One day, mawawala rin ako.”

“So ibig sabihin –“

“Yes. Pinapadali mo ang pag-alis ko.”

Richard flew back to his chair. He closed his eyes. And when he opened them, he’s still on Earth.

He did it again and again, but it doesn’t seem to work. He’s starting to lose his patience.

“Oh? Ano na namang problema mo ngayon?” Maya asked when she got irritated at Richard who’s redundantly opening and shutting his eyes.

“I can’t go back to heaven.” He said, worried and irritated at the same time. My deal’s at sake here!

“Kumalma ka muna kasi.”

Richard tried to calm down. He took several deep breaths then closed his eyes again. He was drifted to the same place as before, but there’s a huge stone wall in front of him, making him unable to pass through.

“Lord, where are You? I need You, please.” He said.

“I’m here, Richard. I’m always here.” The voice said.

“Why can’t I pass through?”

“I’m afraid that you’ve triggered some of your past. I’m afraid I can’t let you pass.”

“But .. but I didn’t do anything! It was my mortal’s fault.”

“It is still your memory, Richard. It’s in our deal.”

Richard could only sigh. “Is there anything that I can do?”

“My Son, you can’t take back what has been done. You just have to face it. Don’t worry, I’m still here.”

“Alright. I’m .. I’m sorry if I let you down.”

“You didn’t. Go now, your mortal is worried about you.”

For some reason, Maya cannot continue her work because her angel is still not back. She’s worried that he might be leaving already, and she knows that if he left, her life will not be the same as now. It’s not just because of Richard’s gifts. Somehow, his presence makes her feel safe and sound.

While she’s having those thoughts, Richard’s chinky eyes opened.

“O? Anong nangyari? Aalis ka na ba? Iiwanan mo na ko?” Maya asked.

Richard gave a small smirk and shook his head.

“Eh bakit ang lungkot mo?”

Richard looked away. “I can’t go back to heaven like I used to.”

“Ha?”

“Triggering my past is also in our deal. Oo, nakakabalik pa ako pero hindi na ako malayang nakakakilos sa taas, may barrier na.”

“Ka-kasalanan ko ba?”

Her angel nodded.

“Naku!” She exclaimed, bringing both of her hands on her mouth. “Richard, sorry ha? Paano ba to? May magagawa ka pa ba?”

“Don’t blame yourself too much, Maya. Saka tapos na. He’s right, I just have to face all of this.”

“Richard, sorry talaga.”

“It’s okay. Ang kulit mo naman eh. Matulog ka na. It’s already near midnight.”

Richard then flew to the couch to rest. Maya saved her documents and piled up her files. Then she went to bed, but before she decided to sleep, she felt that she needs to talk to someone.

“Lord, gusto ko po sanang humingi ng tawad. Sorry po talaga, ako naman po ang may kasalanan kung bakit nagkaganun si Richard. Pasensya na po. Sana po pagbigyan Niyo po siya ulit.” Maya prayed, and then she dozed off.

When Maya opened her eyes, she was in a room. It’s bright and spacious and is full white. No one is there except her.

“He – hello?”
“Maya dela Rosa.” A voice said.

“Si – sino ka? Magpakita ka! I demand!” she said.

The voice laughed. “Richard is right, you are amusing, indeed.”

“Lord?”

“Ahh. Naikwento na pala ako sa’yo  ng anghel mo. I heard your prayer, Maya.”

“Eh opo. Granted po ba yung pinagdasal ko?”

The voice laughed softly. “Hindi lahat ng prayers ay tinutupad ko agad. I have to wait for the right time, at syempre tinitignan ko kung worth it ba yung pagbibigay ko ng hinihiling nila.”
“Ehh dun po sa kaso ko?”

“I’m sorry, Maya. I can’t grant it. Nasa kasunduan namin ‘yun ni Richard.”

Maya suddenly became sad. The voice felt it. “Ganun po ba?”

“Sadly, yes. Pero alam mo kung paano ka makakatulong sa kanya? Tulungan mo siya sa paghahanap ng dahilan kung bakit niya gustong bumalik sa lupa. Do you know the reason why I sent him back?”

“Hindi po.”

“Ang sabi kasi niya sa’kin, may naiwan siyang importante sa lupa, na parang may kulang daw, and I sensed that. I assigned him to you because I know you can help him.”

“Eh ano po ba yung hinahanap ni Richard?”

“It’s for you and him to find out.” Though I know why.

“Sige po! Makakaasa po kayo Lord! Kapit-bisig lang po katapat nito!”

“Inaasahan ko ‘yan, Maya.”
