Maya woke up feeling determined and all. She had a good night sleep especially when she dreamt that God talked to her and asked her to help Richard.

“Good morning Richard!” she greeted him.
“Good morning. Bakit ang taas ng energy mo?” Richard wondered.
“Wala lang! Kailangan ba laging may dahilan?”
“Uhm, no? What happened Maya? You’re making me worry.”
“Asuuus! Ang sweet sweet naman ng guardian angel ko. Maliligo lang ako tapos aalis na tayo.”
“Aalis? San tayo pupunta?”
“Gagawin yung misyon mo.”
“But Maya –“
“No buts, anghel kong singkit! Maliligo na ko, bawal pumasok sa cr ha!”

Maya took a bath and ate breakfast quickly. She was all set when she saw Richard deep in thought and staring outside the window.

“Richard! Tara na!” she said.
Richard turned to look back at her and raised his brows.
“At saan mo balak mag-umpisang maghanap?”
“Ha? Eh di .. “
“See? I don’t even know kung saan ako magsisimula, because I don’t have my memory. Kaya can we please just stay? Hindi naman ako nagmamadali.”
“Gusto lang naman kitang tulungan Richard eh.” She simply answered.
Richard smiled warmly at her. “You’re already helping me by always being here by my side.”

Maya couldn’t explain why but her heart fluttered with what she heard.

“Ehh .. o sya, magtatrabaho na lang ako. May kailangan ka bang gawin?” she asked him.
“Wala naman. I’m just here to protect you.”

Maya’s heart fluttered again.

Maya, ano bang nangyayari sa’yo? Kinikilig ka ba sa anghel mo?

Hindi hindi. Erase! Erase!

She looked at Richard again, who’s out in the balcony of her condo, sitting at the railings.

Can you stay forever, Richard?

Throughout the day, Maya busied herself through her work. She called every person and every personnel who can help her with the details of Roberto’s project to her. She wants her report to be perfect down to the very last detail. Maya would occasionally stand up to get coffee and to have a bathroom break but she doesn’t notice the time that passed by.

Richard, on the other hand, is just watching the world from his position. Maya’s condo is located on the 8th floor, making him see Manila from above. He observed cars beeping, smokes are everywhere and people walking so fast as if they are always late. He would sometimes ask himself if he was like that when he was still alive, if he still has time for his family.

Do I even have a family? Do I have a girl friend? A wife, even? How about kids?

Richard’s mind seems to be thinking on its own. And as he was thinking, he hadn’t noticed that he fell from the railings on Maya’s balcony.

“Richaaaard!!!” Maya quickly went to the balcony when she saw Richard fall.
“Richaard!!!” Maya is almost into tears. She can’t see her angel.” She kept looking down as if searching if her angel left some trail.
“Richaaard!! Asan ka na?”
“I’m here.” Maya was startled when she heard his voice. He is standing on the edge of the railing, looking at her.
“Nakakabuwiset ka, alam mo ba ‘yun?” Maya said, her tears are now falling.
“Bakit?” he amusingly asked. “Saka bakit ka naiyak?”
“Ehh akala ko kasi nawala ka na nung nahulog ka eh!” she said as she wipes her tears.
“I have wings diba?” he answered.
“Sige mang-asar ka pa! Nag-aalala na nga sa’yo yung tao eh!”

He gave a soft laugh then he went near her. He raised his hands to wipe Maya’s tears. His mortal saw what he’s going to do so she stood still, waiting for his touch. But then, Richard stopped when he’s so close to her face. He awkwardly withdrew his hands.

“I – I’m sorry. Nalimutan kong hindi nga pala kita nahahawakan.” He disappointingly said.
Maya sniffed. “Oo nga pala. Pero salamat, Richard.”
He gave her a small smile. “I could’ve hugged you.” I want to hug you so bad, Maya.
Maya returned a smile. “Ako rin.” Gustong-gusto rin kitang yakapin, Richard.

The two were interrupted by Maya’s doorbell.

“Teka lang ha?” Maya excused herself and went to the door. When she returned, she’s holding a paper bag containing food.

“Ang sabi nung delivery guy, galing daw kay Richard. Sa’yo galing ‘to?” she asked him.
“You know, Maya, maraming Richard sa mundo.” He anwered.
“I know. Pero sa lahat ng Richard sa mundo, ikaw lang yung walang apelyido. Sa’yo ‘to galing, tama?”
He gave her a soft chuckle and he raised his hands. “You got me. Eh hindi ka pa kasi kumakain simula kaninang umaga. Trabaho lang inaatupag mo.”
Maya is now preparing the foods. “Kare-kare?”
He nodded. “I saw it on a billboard, went to the restaurant to order for you.”
“Ha? Eh paano ka naka-order saka naka-bayad?” she wondered.
“I have my gifts, remember?” he said as he flew in front of Maya who’s now currently eating.
“Hmmm! Sarap ah! Thank you! Alam mo bang favourite ko ‘to?”
He could only smile. “Mine, too.”
Maya halted. “What?” Richard asked.
“Gusto mo ba talagang mapaaga ang pag-alis mo?”
“Why? Mami-miss mo ako no?”
“Oy! Hi-hindi no! Ang kulit mo talagang guardian angel!” Oo. Mamimiss kita.

Richard could only smile at Maya’s reaction. She denies it but he could see that she’s lying because she’s blushing.

“Anyway, I think tama lang na may maalala ako.”
“Ha?”
“I’ve thought about this. It’s quite a risk pero ang kasunduan kasi is mawawala ako kapag fully recovered na ang memory ko. So it means that I can remember all the things that I want to basta may isang portion na hindi ko gugustuhing matandaan.” he said. He has been thinking about this for quite sometime now.
“Ehh Richard, delikado nga.”
“I know. Pero yun lang yung paraan para mahanap ko yung dahilan kung bakit ako nandito.”
“So kailangan nating mag-set ng limit.”
“Yep. And I’m thinking about my family. Kasi I have this theory na kapag naalala ko sila, mati-trigger lahat ng memory ko from the past, hence, giving me my full memory.”
“Hmm.” Maya gives her support to Richard because it is where he is happy. But deep inside, she doesn’t want to, because she knew that Richard will be gone soon.
“So, tutulungan mo ko?” he asked, bringing her back from her reverie.
“Ha?”
“I’m asking you if you’re going to help me?”
“O-Oo naman! Kaya nga ako nandito eh!”
“Good! For the mean time, tutulungan na rin kita sa report mo.” He then flew to the direction where he can view Maya’s laptop and he read it.

“This is good.” He said when he finished reading. “Wag ka lang magsugar-coat sa ibang statements. I think business men like your boss wants everything to be straight forward.”
Maya looked at her laptop and read some parts, then she revised some statements. “Like that?”
Richard leaned, making him close to Maya. The latter wasn’t able to focus at her work because she got stuck looking at the angel beside her.
“Yan.” He said as he read the document. “I think I’m also a business man don’t you think –“ he suddenly stopped because he turned to look at his mortal, who’s also staring at him, making their faces so close to each other.
Maya’s gaze shifted on Richard’s lips, that’s why Richard made the move of closing the distance between them.
Their lips are so close when Maya’s phone rang, which startled the both of them. Richard quickly flew away while Maya quickly grabbed her phone.

“He- hello?” she said when she answered her phone. “Si- Simon!”
Richard felt a pinch on his heart when he heard that name.
“Oo, nasa condo ako. .. Ha? Bakit mo iiwan ‘yan? … Anong bigay ni Tatay? … Hindi naman ako marunong nyan eh, sa’yo na lang. … Ehh, sige na nga Simon, dalhin mo na. Sige .. Hindi naman ako aalis eh. … Sige .. Babay.”

Richard raised his brows.
“Si Simon, may ibibigay lang daw sa’kin.” She explained.
He only nodded then flew to the balcony.

Why are you acting like this Richard? He said to himself. And you almost kissed her!

Don’t tell me, you’re falling in love with your mortal?

Maya on the other hand was also having her own thoughts.

Maya! Ano ba! Guardian Angel mo si Richard! Hindi ka pwedeng ma-inlove sa kanya. Hindi pwede!

Pero kung natuloy sana .. ay Maya! Erase, erase!!

Maya’s phone rang again.

“Ahh, sige Miss, pasabi bababa na kami. Ay ako pala.” She put the phone down. “Richard, bababa lang ako –“
“I’ll go with  you.” He said.
“Si Simon lang naman eh.”
“Exactly. He’s a guy. Baka kailanganin mo ako nang hindi mo inaasahan.”
“Oy Chard ha. Overprotective ka na. Para naman tayong may relasyon nito eh!” Maya did not expect herself to say that last sentence that left her and Richard in shock.
“Uhm, tara na.” Richard finally said, breaking their silence.

..

“Iiwan ko na ‘yan sa’yo. Pinadala lang ng tatay mo eh.” Simon said.
“Ehh Simon, pakisabi kay Tatay, hindi ko naman kailangan ‘yan. Saka hindi naman ako marunong magmaneho eh.”

The two of them, actually the three of them are standing before a not-so-old car given to Simon by Maya’s father, Arturo. It’s a silver Toyota Vios that Arturo used before.

If you want, tuturuan kitang magmaneho.”
“Sige Simon. Tatawagan ko na lang si Papa. Salamat ha?”
“No problem. Basta ikaw, Maya. O sya, uuna na ko. Kailangan pa ko sa trabaho. Nag-OT kasi ako.”
“Ay, sige. Salamat ulit Simon!”

Maya turned to look back at the car.

“Ano namang gagawin ko dito?”
“Drive it.” Richard said.
“Richard, hindi ka ba nakikinig sa usapan namin ni Simon? Hindi ako marunong mag-drive.”
“Yun lang ba? Tuturuan kita.”
“Ha? Marunong ka ba nyan?”
“Oo naman. The car is still in good shape. May power steering though manual transmission siya. “
“Seryoso ka, Richard? Tuturuan mo ko?
“Yes. Sabi mo naturuan ka na. Edi parang ire-recall mo lang.”
“Teka, eh ikaw nga ‘tong walang memory diba?”
“So? I know how to drive. I promise. I think I used to have a car before. BMW ata ang tatak.” He said.
“O sige na sige na. Ikaw na magtuturo.”
“Good! Let’s go?”
“Ha? Ngayon agad?”
“Yep. Magandang ice breaker ‘to sa’yo since you’ve been working simula pa kaninang umaga.”

Without further ado, Maya opened the car and she let herself in. Richard was already at the passenger’s seat.

“Ready?” her angel asked.
Maya felt unsure about this. Yes, having Richard around makes her feel ten times better but there’s sonething off. But nevertheless, she trusts him.

“Ready!”
