Chapter 31

Richard’s reunion of sorts with his friends stretched beyond dinner time. They started late afternoon wherein each one of them brought their own share in their potluck impromptu party. There were lots of drinks around but Richard barely touched his drink. He didn’t want to get drunk again after the incident with his car and the gate back home.

All of their friends have been told about his engagement and they were happy for him. They teased that finally, he is tying the knot and someone has finally caught him. Although he was enjoying his time with friends, Richard suddenly thought of Maya so he sent her a text message. “Love you.”

Within seconds, she sent back a message. “Love you too.” He couldn’t help but smile. In the last couple of day, he’s been like a fool, smiling whenever he thought of Maya.

“Am still here with friends. Patulog ka na?” He texted back. He moved away from the group as he waited for her response.

“Nope, not yet. Waiting for you.” She texted back.

“Ok. I’ll call you when I get home. In the meantime, you can sleep na.” He replied.

“See you when you get home. I’m not sleeping without you.” Was a quick response. Reading her message, Richard was a bit confused so he called her up.

“Hon, anung sabi mo?” He immediately asked without any introduction.

“Wasn’t it clear? Anyway, bye Hon. Enjoy your time.” She disconnected the call. But, he called her up again after reading her message thrice.

“Are you kidding me?” His heart was racing with the thought that she was in his condo unit waiting for him. Why would she be there was in his thoughts.

“Why would I do that?” She was silent for a while. “ So, I guess to see is to believe?”

She was about to disconnect again when Richard said on the other end. “Maya, don’t tease me okay. Are you doing this para mapauwi lang ako?”

“Nope. See you later.” She finally ended the call.

At the time when he sent her a message, she just got out of the shower room and was getting ready to go to bed, his bed. She planned on sleeping in his condo that night to make amends on her behavior earlier. It was supposed to be a surprise to him but it seemed the surprise was backfiring on her since it was already late and Richard was still out with his friends.

In the end, she had to contend herself with watching TV as she waited for him. Eventually, sleep invaded her.

Maya was already in deep slumber when she thought she was dreaming. She dreamt of Richard nuzzling her neck, raining kisses from her forehead to the sides of her face. She smiled and enjoyed every second of it.

Then, she heard him say, “Sorry, Hon, I thought you were joking kanina.”

She realized she was not dreaming. In a half-asleep state she responded, “Hmmm, Ricky, you’re here na.” Slowly , she opened her eyes and found him propped up on the side of the bed with his hair still wet as if he just came out of the shower.

“Yes, hon. Mahimbing ka pala matulog. Nakashower na ako at lahat, hindi ka pa rin nagising.” He took his side on the bed. He lifted the comforter covering her and found her wearing a pink lacy negligee.

His eyes widened in delight. “Wow!! had I known you will be here wearing that, di sana hindi na lang ako umalis.” Richard pulled her close to him and tightly hugged her.

“Ikaw eh. O s’ya tulog na tayo.” She closed her eyes in attempt to go back to sleep.

“Ohh no, you can’t do that. You’re not going back to sleep now that I’m here.” He kissed her on the lips. She initially ignored him but he deepened his kiss. He traced his tongue around her lip that made her sigh. The way he kissed her sent shivers down to the rest of her body.

She was fully awake by then. Their kissing was turning out to very passionate causing Maya to be breathless. Her hands started to crawl up and wrapped around his neck.

She began to feel the length of his legs on her legs as Richard positioned himself on top of her. It was then she realized that he was wearing boxer shorts and nothing else.

“Ricky…” She uttered when she broke their kiss.

“Please don’t ask me to stop Maya, I’ve long waited for this.” His lips took her lips again to silence her. Then, he moved downwards to the base of her neck. His hands were caressing her body, exploring each contour as she her hands also began to explore his back.

“Maya… you’re driving me crazy.” His voice was very husky. His heart thumping wildly.

“I love you honey.” Richard whispered; his voice still sensual.

“I love you more.” She kissed him on the lips.

“Let’s get married next month.” He whispered in her ear.

She wrapped her arms around him. “Alright, let’s get married next month.”
