Sobrang thank you for reading this story and the others in my blogsite. I just read the comments there and here in EB at graaabe, supercalafragilisticexpialidocious ang feeling ko after reading the comments. I’d love to read them over and over again.
But I really wanted to give something in return to your support and awe-inspiring comments.
So, instead of replying to comments individually, I thought of making Part 7 a little shorter so I could finalize it and post an update agad agad. Hopefully makabawi na lang next time, and soon.
This is all that I could do for now.
I hope you’ll still enjoy reading this installment. One thing is sure, I would love to read your comments. 🙂

Richard: She really adores Maya. They adore each other.
Manang Fe: Kaya huwag mo masyado inaaway at pinagagalitan, lagi kang nakasigaw.
Dati naka busangos lagi mukha mo.
Manang Fe: O bakit? Wala namang masama sa sinabi ko ah. Mas bagay sayo ang ganyang maaliwalas ang mukha, magaan ang dating. O siya, alis ka na at baka mahuli ka pa.
Richard looked at the direction of Maya and Abby once more, and stares at them for one last time. Richard frowned thinking that he saw Abby opened her mouth while sleeping, as if saying something. He ran down the stairs and rushed to where the hammock is. There, he stared at his daughter wrapped in the arms of Maya looking so contended sleeping on Maya’s chest. Richard then fixed his eyes on Maya and appreciated her angelic face.
When Maya budged, Richard stepped back and stiffened for a moment. After seeing that Maya is still asleep, slowly, he turned and walked back towards the stairs in a fast pace. It was then that Abby opened her mouth again and faintly uttered “Maya….Mama….Maya….Mama…..Maya…..”
The Great Wall of China
LAS Conference Room 7:00 p.m.
Liza: Haay! Finally the meeting is over!
Tapos Wednesday pa, Baclaran day, a-trenta, so pay day for some.
Richard: So let’s eat first, before we go. Sonny, tayo na lang nila Engr. Yamaguchi ang tumuloy ng Clark bukas. Maiwan ka na Liza. You’re much needed here.
Yamaguchi, baka maka alis.
LIM Mansion 9:00 p.m.
Richard arrived at the mansion very tired, with a splitting head ache and a couple of hours left to rest and sleep before he drives himself to Clark the next morning. To top it all, he still has to finish the revisions in the blue print layout of the hangar, otherwise, its construction will be further delayed.
Richard went straight to his home office and cleared his table so he can unroll the layout of the hangar in full. He stared at the layout, and as he was examining the details of the hangar, he heard a muffled sound of an upbeat music.
At the same time, Maya was inside her room doing some things for a party event come Saturday afternoon. But because she’s used to being with Emman during cramming times like that, she was feeling bored, sleepy and tired and it’s only a little past 9:00 in the evening. So, she decided to put on an upbeat music to keep her up and about. Maya swayed her hips to the beat when the music started.
All the single ladies, all the single ladies,
All the single ladies, all the single ladies,
All the single ladies, all the single ladies,
All the he single ladies
Now put your hands up
Up in the club, we just broke up,
I’m doing my own little thing
Decided to dip and now you wanna trip
‘Cause another brother noticed me
Feeling a little pumped up, Maya increased the volume and sings along while dancing on her way out of the room to go to the kitchen to make coffee.
I’m up on him, he up on me
Don’t pay him any attention
Just cried my tears, for three good years
Ya can’t be mad at me
Richard paused, and listened intently to crack where the disruptive music was coming from. “Seriously?! At this time of the night?! It must be Luke!” Richard thought. He was about to go upstairs to check on Luke when all of a sudden, the muffled sound became loud….and clear…. that it’s coming from Maya’s room. The loud music escaped the room when Maya opened the door to go out.
‘Cause if you liked it, then you shoud have put a ring on it
If you liked it, then shoulda put a ring on it
Don’t be mad once you see that he want it
Now with adrenalin high, Maya sang along with great enthusiasm not noticing Richard who was now standing a couple of meters from her.
‘Cause if you liked it, then you shouda put a ring on it
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh –
Richard: With all his might, Richard yelled her name. MAYA!!!
Maya: Maya’s jaw dropped and instantly said O oh…..eh, good evening po Sir Chief!
Richard: In my office!
Maya: Principal’s office at this time of the night, Sir Chief?
Maya swiftly retreated from where she came from to shut the door of her room and closely followed Richard to the home office.
Richard: What the hell are you doing?!
Maya: Huh?! Sir Chief, res ipsa loquitur.
Richard: And what the hell do you mean by that?!
Maya: The thing speaks for itself, Sir Chief.
Richard: Don’t try your wit on me Maya!
Maya: Huh? Res ipsa loquitur, the thing speaks for itself.
You asked me what was I doing, and since you asked for the obvious, yun po ang sagot ko, kasi yun na nga po yun, the thing speaks for itself, no need to elaborate. I was doing what you saw me doing….singing and dancing. So, res ipsa loquitur.
Richard: Bloody hell Maya! Are you telling me that I asked you an impertinent question?
Sir Chief, talaga bang everytime you see this face it reminds you of hell kaya “Maya what the hell are you doing? Maya what the hell do you mean by that? Bloody hell Maya!”
O di kaya naman, “for heaven’s sake Maya, tell me what do you mean by that?” or imbes na “bloody hell Maya!” gawin nyo po kayang “angels on high Maya!”
Richard: Richard avoids the confrontation made by Maya. Eh bakit ba kasi kailangan ganyan ang music mo? Maingay, nakaka irita! Sobrang lakas, nakaka bingi!
Maya: Hmmm ……
Richard: What NHA?
Maya: NHA, Needs Hearing Aid!
Richard: Maya! I’m NOT that old to be in need of a hearing aid!
Maya: Maya looks away and whispers Hmp!
Richard: I heard that Maya!
Maya: Huh?!
Sir Chi-ef, that is an admission from you, and no evidence is required to prove na hindi kayo nabingi, kasi hindi malakas ang music ko.
Again, res ipsa loquitur! The thing speaks for itself. Sabi mo po “I heard that Maya!”
Richard: Again, Richard shuns away. Basta! Maingay siya and I don’t like it! Why do you even listen to it? Is it because you can relate to it being single up to now? If you always play around like that, you will scare men away and remain single!
Maya: HEP! Excuse me po. Being single is an option to me. It’s no big deal. I’m not in a hurry naman so I’ll just wait for him……… Anyway I’m only in my mid 20’s. Bata pa! Nasa kalendaryo at lotto pa. Hindi gaya ng iba, matanda na.
Kaya my choice of music has nothing to do with being single. I was getting bored and sleepy, so nagpatugtug po ako ng upbeat music para magising. Multi awarded singer!
Richard: I don’t bloody care who she is!
Maya: Seriously?! Bloody talaga?
Lagi na lang, since I started 2 weeks ago, up to now, sinisigawan nyo pa rin ako. Ano yan, blockbuster movie lang ang dating? NOW ON ITS THIRD WEEK?!
Kayo ang maingay diyan sa kasisigaw nyo. In case you didn’t notice, mula ng tinawag nyo ako kanina hangang sa ngayon pasigaw kayo makipag usap.
By this time, Richard has come to realize that his snappy and confrontational exchange of words with Maya has reached a point of no return, and to dare cross the Rubicon is definitely not an option available to him at the moment because he knows that to do so, will not only lead to an endless discussion with her, but might humiliate him even more. After all, Maya was able to hammer out her arguments competently well in a calm manner. “Why is it so difficult to argue with this woman?!” he asked himself silently. He knew then, that it was time for him to throw in the towel while the word SURRENDER kept on flashing in his mind as his only choice of action.
Richard: Richard pouts with puckered lips. Fine! I’m sorry! Satisfied?!
Maya: Ha? Ano daw? May sinasabi po kayo Sir Chief?
Richard: Richard gives off a sigh of hesitancy. I said, I’m sorry.
Maya: Ha? Ano po ulit? Naku! Nabingi na po ata ako Sir Chief! Hindi kita marinig! Maya looks at Richard attentively.
Richard: Okay, I said, I’m sorry, Maya. Please don’t rub it in anymore.
Maya: Okay! Apology accepted!
Richard: Fine. Look, I have a terrible head ache; I’m very tired and stressed out. I still need to finish something and there’s little time left because I’ll be leaving for Clark early morning tomorrow. I can not go on arguing with you dahil mas lalo lang ako napapagod and I need all the energy that I have. So just please, please lower down the volume and stop arguing with me.
Maya: Sir Chief, I was not arguing with you.
Maya was enthralled at how Richard said her name. She thought it actually sounded soft and sweet. Maya looked into Richard’s eyes. She saw exhaustion and solitude. “Aaawwww, Sir Chief ……gusto kitang bigyan ng power hug!” was all that Maya could think.
Maya: Uhm….Sir Chief, siguro po it’s better if you go upstairs and change your clothes first so you’ll feel comfortable. Eh more than 12 hours nyo na pong suot yan eh, since this morning pa yan. Naman, naka shoes pa kayo oh. Eeew, ang unhygenic na po nyan!
Maya leans forward Richard and sniffs him.
Richard: Instinctively, Richard steps back and said Maya…..
But Richard did not move and and instead, stayed where he was standing. He just stared at Maya with awe while thinking “How can she be so nice and thoughtful to me just after I fasely scolded at her so many times just moments ago? Oh dear! Why do I feel the urge to hug her right now?!”
Maya, naïve but persistent that she is, went to Richard’s side, hooked her right arm with his left, and walked to lead him towards the stairs. Richard felt the shivers the moment Maya’s skin touched his. Richard looks at Maya who was unaware of the thoughts running in his mind. “Great! Now I want to kiss her too?! Arrrggghhh! God, help me!”
Hay nako, you’re wasting precious time here.
Richard: Richard smiles at her and says Okay, coffee would be nice, thank you.
As promised, when Richard went back inside his home office, Maya has just carefully placed his coffee away from the layout that was spread on the table.
Richard: Thank you. Uhm….you’re going to sleep now?
When Maya returned to the home office, Richard, who looked fresh in his pajamas, was already engrossed working on the layout. He looked up and smiled at Maya who went behind the executive chair he was sitting on.
Richard: Are you sure?
Maya: Sure na sure po.
Richard: Although apprehensive of what Maya is about to do, Richard gives her a nod and says Okay…
Gently, Maya put her hands on Richard’s shoulders, and his neck squirmed as soon as he felt Maya’s touch. She started rubbing his shoulders with her thumbs, searching for hard lumps. As Maya’s probing thumbs continues, he started to relax a bit.
Richard: Uhm….that feels relieving.
Maya points to the spots using her index fingers. Hindi ba kayo
nag papa massage?
Maya: Huh?! He really misses you.
Richard: I don’t need a massage. Luke said that?
Richard: Hmmmm….that feels really good. It smells nice too!
Maya got curious on what Richard was cramming and stressing himself about. She looks at the layout while securing the herbal pillow on Richard’s shoulder with her left hand.
Maya: That’s Lavander oil….it’s an adaptogen. It helps the body adapt to stress by boosting energy pero it helps the muscles to relax too, kaya maganda po sha just before going to bed.
Richard: Lavander. Adaptogen. You’re a very intelligent and well-versed woman, Maya.
To get a closer look at the layout, Maya moved to the right side of Richard and leaned a little forward, unmindful that her left arm is now wrapped around Richard’s shoulder.
Maya: Thank you.
Richard looks up at Maya and realizes how naïve she can be. He is now consumed with an overwhelming feeling brought about by the presence of Maya and the physical contact innocently made by her. He just couldn’t explain it, but he is very much certain that it’s totally opposite the lustful touch of the women he has encountered with in the past.
Richard: Uhm…you know, I’m really having a difficult time reaching out to Luke.
Maya: Don’t worry, the two of you are in the same boat. Actually, lahat po sila. Hindi nyo pa kasi tibagin yang great wall of China eh.
Richard: What is that?
Maya: Sir Chief, I know you have Chinese blood. Great Wall of China and surround yourself with it?
Richard didn’t say a word and just kept quiet. After scrutinizing the layout, Maya couldn’t stop herself from giving her two cents worth.
Pano pag may meeting, or may gusto mag coffee sa inyo? Parang ang layo ng lalakbayin to go to the office pantry.
Another thing, ito po ba, second floor? Maya asked while pointing to the portion of the layout.
Richard: Yes. It serves as quarters. I have my resting room there, and a few rooms for staff.
Bawal po yan sa feng shio, it’s like flushing away the money that goes into the buiness.
Richard: Richard is amused. He looks at her with admiration, and smiles. I did’t know na architect ka rin pala, feng shui master pa.
I’m just saying na
Richard: Well, I’ll note everything here. Tamang tama sa meeting tomorrow sa hangar. Thank you, Maya.
Maya starts to walk away.
Richard: No, wait! I wasn’t complaining Maya, I didn’t ask you to leave. You can stay.
RING RING RING
Maya: Ay, Sir Chief, wait lang po.
Maya: Hello!……..Hello, Emman!……….Na miss rin kita!………
Oo, tinatapos ko pa yung mga IDs and loot bag tags for the party ngayon……
Ha? Naman Emman, kelan naman ako na late? ………Okay, I will meet you bukas so I can show you.………Let’s meet half way?………Sige, Starbucks Katipunan. ………
He’s back? Who’s back? ……… Talaga?! ……… Guess what ka jan. Good night!
Richard: Who is Emman?
Richard: Your business partner is a guy?
Maya: Gay po not guy.
Richard: Ahhh…and who is James?
Maya: College professor who became a mentor and a friend. Sige na po Sir Chief, I really need to go back to what I’m doing kasi may dead line din po ako.
Richard: Can you not do it here instead? I can use some company.
Maya: Ay, hassle po eh, dami pong materials involved. Malaking istorbo po. Pero if you need anything, nasa room lang po ako.
Richard: Okay, thank you…Uhm, Maya.
Richard: I’m really sorry for losing my temper on you a while ago.
Maya: I understand.
Richard went down to his home office at 5:00 o’clock in the morning the next day. As he was gathering the things that he will bring with him to the hangar at Clark, he heard some clattering sounds coming from the kitchen. Curious, he went to check it out.
There in the kitchen at the breakfast nook, he saw Maya sitting on a stool while munching on a sandwhich and stirring a cup of coffee.
Richard: Maya, why are you up so early? When I went upstairs at about 11:00 o’clock last night, I know you’re still up because I heard you were playing classical music by Strauss. What time did you sleep?
Maya: Po? Eh…
Richard: When Richard noticed the black circle under Maya’s eyes, he did not let her finish.
Richard: Maya, just adjust Abby’s home school schedule for today so you can sleep first and get enough rest.
Maya, wag ka na umalis later, just ask your business partner to come by the house. Kulang ka sa tulog, it wouldn’t be safe to drive. Besides, I’ll be in Clark, about 2 hours drive from here, mas ok kung nandito ka with Manang Fe, just in case may emergency, you know. Pwede ba yun?
Maya: Okay po, Sir Chief, no problem.
After about five minutes, Richard went out of the main door and loaded his things inside the car trunk. He started the car and began typing a text message to Sonny and Liza informing them of his impending departure.
Maya: Sir Chief!
Richard: Maya, what is it?
Maya: Maya hands him over a stainless thermos, a sandwich and mints.
Richard: That’s very thoughtful of you, Maya. Thank you. Eh bakit may candy pa?
Maya: Eh I just remembered kasi what they say sa Love Radio, sabi po nung mga DJ, sina Christopher at Nicole, “magdasal ka para mabuhay ka, at mag toothbrush ka para mabuhay naman ang iba!”
Richard: Richard laughs. You’re silly Maya.
Maya: Ayan pinagtatawanan nyo ako. Eh kasi po, tuna sandwich po yan, medyo malansa ang amoy, and if by chance magutom ka and you eat it, baka mahimatay naman po yung sasalubong sa inyo sa Clark. Bawas pogi points yun Sir Chief!
Richard: Richard smiles at her. Okay Maya. I’ll remember to take the mints after I eat the sandwich. Thank you. Now go get some sleep.
Lim Mansion – Friday, 5:00 p.m.
James Ventura still wanted to stay and chat with Maya but he has a family dinner at 7:00 o’clock, so he hesitantly bid his goodbyes to Emman, the Lim kids, and the rest of the Lim household. Maya walked him to his car that’s parked outside across the mansion.
James: James looked confidently handsome in his charcoal gray suit. He still hasn’t changed. He still looks at Maya with full of respect and admiration. It’s really good to see you, Maya. And I’m happy that you are doing well in law school.
It somehow triggered my interest in law. The rest, kasalanan na ni Emman. He dragged me to UP to take the law aptitude test, and the rest is history.
James: Did I really terrorize you guys? Maya nods at him. Well, you didn’t look like you were terrorized then. Ang tapang mo nga eh. Hahahaha!
Maya: I was challenged, sir.
James: And then we became friends. Tayo nila Emman and Ellen. Maya, we’ve been friends for so many years.
Pero sige po, I can deal with removing the po and opo. Pero nakaka ilang kung James lang. Besides, if you’re really going to teach sa law school, mas lalo dapat kang i-address ng Sir.
You know, we should go out sometime so we could catch up. Hello and hi lang tayo ngayon, wala man lang kwentuhan.
Maya: Eh Sir, ikaw tong nawala bigla. Tapos after years, bigla ka nagpakita ngayon pero parang flash, aalis din bigla.
James: And I’m back. Hopefully for good. Well, at least I got to see you again. But I really have to get going. My dinner is at 7. Baka mag away na naman kami ni Dad if I don’t show up on time. So, let’s see each other again soon?
Maya: Of course! Marami kang utang na kwento Sir James.
Richard was on his way home to the mansion. His visit at the Clark hangar was very productive. He is longing to see the kids whom he missed so much. When he came home late Wednesday night, they were already sleeping. When he left Thursday early morning, they were still in bed.
He is also eager to see Maya and tell her about the change in the layout of the hangar, the office pantry in particular. He then remembers the events that transpired on Wendesday night and the thoughtfulness of Maya early morning the next day. He didn’t forget to take the mints and he is excited to inform her about it. He was smiling at the thought of Maya.
When he reached the corner of the street, he turned left. Immediately, he saw Maya comfortably leaning on a sports car, animatedly talking to guy in suit, who seemed to be mesmerized by her beauty. Richard was dismayed when he noticed that Maya is wearing a low back spaghetti strapped sun dress which exposed her naked back and shouldrers reaching the skin above her chest showing a little of her cleavage.
Maya: Maya sees the oncoming car. Huh?! Si Mr. Lim! Naku, patay!
Richard stopped the car in front of the gate, got out and approached Maya and James.
Richard: Maya! Why are you here outside, ba’t hindi kayo duon sa loob?
Maya: Good evening po, Sir Chief.……Uhm…Sir James, my boss – Mr. Lim.
The two men instantly shook hands and exchanged pleasantries.
James: Atty. James Ventura.
Richard: Engr. Richard Lim.
James: Nice to meet you Richard. I was about to go actually.
Richard: Any relation to Jaime Ventura?
James: I’m his only son.
