A/N: This short story is sincerely dedicated to Catez, who celebrated her birthday on January 28. Happy birthday sis! I may not have finished this in time for your big day, but I hope, whatever I was able to come up with would still be appreciated. Haha!
This story is based on the experience of my friend. She did experience what Doris saw in this story firsthand. If you want to know what she saw in real life, be my guest and read on. 😀
“Mahal, nabanggit nga pala sa akin ni Nikki na wala silang pasok ni Abby on Thursday,” said Maya as she and Richard were preparing for bed.
“Ah yes. She also told me about it,” replied Richard. He got to bed followed by his wife. Maya cuddled close to Richard who wrapped his arm around her shoulders as she rested her head on top of his chest.
“Eh mahal ako din, wala din akong flight non hanggang Sunday. Monday na ulit ang next flight ko.” Maya was smiling sheepishly as she hopes for Richard to easily follow where she’s getting at.
Richard smiled at the thought. “Hmm? Talaga? I think that’s good para makapagpahinga kang mabuti.”
“Oo nga mahal. Pero alam mo mahal, nasabi sa akin ng mga kaibigan ko na maganda daw pangtanggal ng stress ang lumabas at magpunta sa bundok o di kaya naman sa beach.”
Richard’s face lit up at the realization. His wife still has the habit of beating around the bush. He then decided to play dumb. “Really? Baka sa ganoon sila nare-relax kaya niya nasabi yun? Iba-iba naman kasi tayo ng way to relax. Like me, I find it more relaxing simply staying at home and spending time with you and the kids.”
Maya looked up to Richard and smiled. Resting her cheek once again on his chest, “Mahal si Luke din walang pasok on Thursday.”
Richard let out a sigh. “Ok, mahal. What is it?”
Maya looked up once again and saw Richard raising up his brows, waiting for her answer. Maya smiled bashfully. “Eh mahal, gusto kasi sana ng mga bata na mag-out of town naman daw tayo. Nakita kasi nila Nikki yung mga photos na tinag sa akin nila Ruby. Mga kuha sa naging outing nila sa Sta. Ana Cagayan. Nagandahan yung mga bata at nag-re-request na baka pwede naman daw tayong pumunta doon. Eh mahal tignan mo o? Four days na nagkataong pare-pareho kaming walang mga pasok tapos nandito pa si Mama. O di ba? Kumpleto tayo. Masaya yun!”
Richard shakes his head. “Sinasabi ko na nga ba.”
“Eh mahal, minsan lang naman ito. Minsan lang naman na nagkakataong nagkakatugma-tugma ang mga schedule natin ng mga bata. Sayang naman di ba? At saka di ba, dati nag-plano narin tayo na pumunta sana sa Ilocos kaso hindi natuloy dahil nagkaroon ng camping si Nikki? O eto at magkakatugma mga schedule natin. At may bonus pa! Andito si mama! O di ba? Masaya yun!”
Richard raised a brow. “Aren’t you forgetting something?”
“Huh?” Maya’s brows immediately furrowed as she try to think of what she could possibly be missing.
Richard waited for a couple of seconds but Maya failed to answer him right away. Sensing that Maya still hasn’t figured out what he’s trying to say, “You haven’t asked me kung ako din ba ay free on Thursday.”
Maya’s eyes widened as awareness hit her. “Ay oo nga pala mahal noh! Naku! Eh na-excite lang kasi ako at nadala narin sa idea ng mga bata. Nakalimutan ko na baka hindi ka pwede sa araw na yun. Pasensya ka na mahal ha. Sige, sabihin ko nalang sa mga bata.” Though unintentional, Maya’s face dramatically fell which Richard noticed.
“Do you really want to go there?” he asked in an encouraging tone.
“Oo sana. Pero ok lang ako mahal. Ako narin ang bahalang magsabi sa mga bata. Alam ko namang importante ang trabaho mo. Naiintindihan namin mahal.” Maya smiled at him reassuringly.
Richard smiled back and kissed his wife’s forehead. “Thanks for understanding mahal but I think I have a better idea.”
“Huh?” Maya watched in confusion as her husband sat up, reached for his phone and started dialing a number.
“Hello Minerva? I’m sorry to disturb you at this hour but I’d like to check if I have any scheduled meeting on Thursday? . . . . . . . . . . . . Ok I’ll wait,” Richard waited on the other line all the while smiles lovingly at his wife, “Yes Minerva? . . . . . . . . . Ok great. Just keep that day free and please note that I’ll be on leave on that day and will be back on Monday. Also, kindly check for available flights to Tuguegarao. I’ll text you the details. . . . . . . . . That’ll be all. Thanks.” Richard pressed the end button and placed his phone back on the bedside table. “What?” he asked as he noticed Maya looking at him in a dumbfounded fashion.
Regaining back her senses, “Ibig sabihin ba niyan mahal. . .” she trailed off.
“Yes. Since gusto niyo ng mga bata na magpunta don, then let’s do it. Minsan lang din naman mangyayari ito na nagtugma tugma ang mga schedule natin at andito si Mama. So I think it really is –“
Before Richard could finish off, Maya immediately sat up and threw herself to Richard and hugged him tight. Richard chuckled and hugged her back. “Thank you mahal!!”
“Anything for you mahal. Anything to make you happy. Alam mo namang hindi ko kayo matitiis ng mga bata di ba?”
Teary-eyed, “The best ka talaga mahal.” As she disengaged, she brushed off the tears from her eyes and smiled brightly at her husband.
“Let’s tell the kids about this tomorrow morning at breakfast, ok?”
“And naisip ko rin mahal, why don’t we tag Nay Teresita, Tay Arturo, Kute, and Cho along? Baka makatulong din yun para mas maging okay na sila Tay Arturo at Kute?” suggested Richard.
Maya’s tears fell unbidden.
Richard reached for his wife’s face worriedly. “Mahal what’s wrong? Didn’t you like my idea? Akala ko lang kasi gusto mo yun.”
Maya chuckled. “Mahal ok lang ako. Alam mo namang mas bumabaw pa ang luha ko ng magbuntis ako di ba? Natutuwa lang ako. Masayang masaya lang ako ng sobra. Sobra sobra mahal. Hindi ka lang the best boss, the best dad, the best friend, the best na anak, the best husband, ikaw din ang the best in-law. Thank you mahal.”
Richard smiled adoringly at his wife and gathered her in his arms. “I told you, anything for you mahal. I’m willing to go out of my way to give you whatever you want, whatever you need, and whatever that will make you happy. I know how important your family is to you at pamilya ko narin sila. They’re important to me as well. Ang mabuti pa, give them a call tomorrow so we can arrange their plane tickets at makasama natin sila sa outing, okay?”
“Okay mahal. I love you so much.”
“I love you so much too.”
“Talaga dad??” exclaimed Luke, Nikki, and Abby in unison.
The Lim household is having their breakfast when Richard announced the good news to everyone.
“Yes. At kasama din natin sila Tatay Art, Nanay Tere, Kute, and Cho,” Richard said further earning cheers and beams from his children.
Abby in particular shrieked at the idea. “Magkikita ulit kami ni Cho! Makakalaro ko ulit siya!!”
“Yun o! Dadalin ko yung guitar ko para makapag-jamming kami ni Ate Cris!” said Luke.
“Oh my gee!! At makikita ko ulit sila Lola Tere!!” Nikki said then turned to Maya. “Tita mommy, can you make a request kay Lola Tere na baka pwede siyang magdala ng suman sa latik? Na-miss ko na kasi yun eh. Pretty please Tita Mommy?”
Maya chuckled. “Okay sige. Sasabihin ko kay Nanay.”
“Buti naman at makakasama sila balae? This will really be fun. Sayang lang at wala ang papa niyo,” joined Donya Esmeralda.
“Oo nga Ma. But there can always be a next time. Let’s plan a similar trip next time, pag andito si Papa,” said Richard.
“That’s a good idea son. Naku tignan mo nga naman itong mga apo ko o? Hindi na maitago pa ang excitement,” laughed Donya Esmeralda.
“Syempre naman lola! This is the first out of town trip na kasama ka namin pati narin sila Lolo Art, Lola Tere, Ate Cris, and Cho! This will be totally awesome!” said Nikki giddily.
Manang Fe, Doris and Sabel were quietly listening at the side and were all smiles at what they heard, most especially the two BFFs who are finding a hard time containing their excitement.
“Ah eh Mrs. Chief, saan po ba ang out of town trip natin ngayon?” asked Sabel who could no longer contain her curiousity.
“Sa Sta. Ana Cagayan, Sabel.”
“Naku Mrs. Chief! Maganda po doon! May mga kamag-anakan po ako doon at maganda po ang beach doon! Yun nga po ang tinatawag nilang Boracay of the North!” butted Doris.
“Opo Mrs. Chief! Sabi nga ng iba mas maganda pa daw doon compared sa Boracay,” added Doris.
“Oh my gee Ate Doris!! Mas lalo tuloy akong na-e-excite!!” exclaimed Nikki.
Doris and Sabel were both grinning from ear to ear. Doris was about to say something more but Richard got their attention first.
“Doris, Sabel. Thursday ang alis namin and Sunday na ang magiging balik. I expect you guys to take good care of the house and its security while we’re gone,” instructed Richard.
“Po??” said Doris and Sabel in unison.
Richard raised a brow while everyone around tried to suppress a laugh. “What?”
“Ah. Eh. Wala naman po ser. Kung gayon, maiiwan po kami ni Sabel dito sa bahay?” asked Doris in dismay.
“Yes,” answered Richard nonchalantly. “I expect you guys to behave properly while we’re away ok? I don’t want to hear na kung sinu-sino ang mga pinapapasok niyo dito sa bahay or kung saan saan kayo nagpupunta ng wala kami. Do I make myself clear?”
“Yes ser,” Doris and Sabel said in a sullen tone. They were both totally dismayed and gloomy when everyone around them started to laugh.
“Doris. Sabel. Wag na kayong malungkot na dalawa jan. Nagbibiro lang itong si Ricky. Kasama kayong lahat sa outing,” said Maya.
Both Sabel’s and Doris’ head jerked up but were still obviously hesitant to believe Maya as they noticed Richard still posing a poker face and unaffected while sipping his coffee.
“Eh Mrs. Chief. Parang hindi naman po nagbibiro si ser,” blurted Sabel. Richard immediately glanced at her making her cringe and bow her head in embarrassment and terror.
Richard smirked. “Better believe her Sabel. Not unless, ayaw niyo talagang sumama at mas gusto niyo pang magbantay nalang dito sa bahay.”
Both went frantic at what they heard. “Ay hindi po ser! Alam naman po namin na nagbibiro lang talaga kayo. Hindi na nga po kami mapakali. Na-eexcite na nga po kami eh.”
“You’re both so funny talaga ate Doris and ate Sabel,” quipped Abby while giggling at the two.
“Guys, we might get late. Come one let’s go.” Richard got up from his chair followed by the rest of the family, leaving Manang Fe, Doris and Sabel behind.
“Manang, ibang klase talagang magbiro yang si ser,” commented Sabel.
“Oo nga Manang. Parang si Donya Esmeralda lang. Nagbibiro pala pero hindi obvious. Gusto yata nilang magkasakit sa puso yung mga binibiro nila eh,” added Doris.
Manang Fe shakes her head at the two. “Kayong dalawa talaga.
Wednesday evening. The Lim household were pumped up about their out of town Trip to Sta. Ana Cagayan the following day. Everyone’s busy packing and checking the things that they’ll be bringing to the trip. And though it’s already past 9pm and the flight is scheduled early morning, everyone found it hard to sleep as adrenaline continuously course through their veins.
Everyone is oblivious about the time if not for Richard. The kids, including Maya and Esmeralda were all gathered around the living room running a last minute check on the things that they’ve already packed, making sure that nothing’s missed.
“Ok guys, it’s getting late. We better get some sleep already as we have an early flight to catch tomorrow,” he said.
“But dad. We’re not sleepy yet. Kahit sa plane nalang kami matulog,” complained Nikki.
“Ate’s right daddy. We’re not sleepy yet,” chimed Abby.
Richard smiled sweetly at his kids. “Guys, the flight to Tuguegarao is only for about an hour. You wouldn’t get much from that. Sige na. Get some sleep. We still have a long day ahead of us tomorrow.”
Nikki and Abby whined some more in an attempt to win their dad over when Luke intervened. “Nikki. Abby. Dad is right. Mabuti pa matulog na tayo. If we’re not going to have our sleep tonight, we’ll end up wasting our first day in Cagayan indoors, catching up on sleep. Is that what you guys want?”
Nikki and Abby slumped back on the sofa. “Well, not really Kuya. Syempre I immediately wanted to explore the beauty that place has to offer. Ayoko namang dumayo lang don ng tulog,” said Nikki.
Luke smiled. “See. Kaya ang mabuti pa, let’s all go to our rooms and have our much needed rest.”
The two young ladies smiled. “Okay.”
The three stood up and greeted their parents and their grandma good night and went off to their respective rooms.
The flight to Tuguegarao went smoothly. They arrived almost the same time as the dela Rosas. Everyone’s enthused to see one another once again. As they got out of the airport, they were immediately fetched by the shuttle service from Cagayan Holiday & Leisure Resort who will drive them all the way to the hotel.
After a four hour drive, they finally reached their destination where Richard booked two Deluxe Oceanfront Villas.
“Oh my gee dad!! So this is where we are staying for the next couple of days??” asked Nikki who was still gaping at the beauty of the villas and its surroundings.
Nikki squealed in delight. They all went inside the Villas, settled and prepared for lunch. Shortly after lunch, they all gathered around in one room discussing their itineraries for the next couple of days and did some catching up with one another.
After a while, the kids decided to explore the facilities that the resort has to offer. They settled for the infinity-edge pool where they decided to take a swim.
As evening came, they all went to the Sky Lounge KTV where they enjoyed a night of ecstasy.
Everyone rose early the next day eager to take part with the exploration that they have planned for the day. Shortly after breakfast, they all went to San Vicente port and depart for Palaui Island. They had some trekking to Cape Engaño Lighthouse. After exploring the place, they departed for Anguib Beach where they did some further exploration, beach bumming, and swimming.
They had their lunch at the beach before they went to Punta Verde, where they did some more exploration and met with some locals. After a jam packed day, they all decided to pack up and head back to the hotel. Everyone were pretty exhausted with all the adventures that they went through that shortly after having dinner, everyone dozed off to sleep in an instant.
Three-thirty am the next day, Richard got up and woke everyone up, much to the displeasure of everyone.
“Mahal, alas-tres palang. Bakit kailangan nating gumising ng ganito kaaga? Saan ba tayo pupunta?” asked Maya with a tinge of annoyance.
“Oo nga naman dad! We’re still having a super deep and good slumber because of the tiring day that we had yesterday and now your cutting short our sleep!” added Nikki grudgingly.
“Ok. I know you’re pretty much annoyed cause I woke you all up at this time pero there’s something that we should not miss while we’re here in Cagayan. Mamaya nalang ulit kayo magreklamo once we’re done.”
Everyone groggily and begrudgingly followed Richard. They all dressed up and boarded the shuttle service where they were brought to San Vicente Port once more. It was still dark when they boarded the boat. A couple of minutes later, they then arrived at Crocodile Island.
“Oh my gee dad! Don’t tell me this is your big plan? Have an early morning swim on this island?” said Nikki.
“No Niks. I’ve got better plans than that,” smiled Richard.
Nikki was giving him a confused look when all of a sudden her face began to lightt up. “Oh my gee dad! Don’t tell me! Eeeeeeeh!!” She began to shriek at her own thoughts.
“O Niks! Mellow down the hysteria! Hindi mo ba pansing ikaw lang ang nag-iingay dito?” reprimanded Luke.
“Whatever kuya! I just can’t believe it kasi that dad would thought of skinny-dipping!!” blurted Nikki.
Luke’s eyes widened then turned to face Richard. “Dad? You’ll go skinny-dipping?? Kaya pala tayo nagpunta dito ng ganito kaaga eh. Para wala pang tao at walang makakita sa’yo,” he said, giving his father a knowing look.
Richard’s face burned in embarrassment at what he’s hearing. He found the idea absurd. “Of course not! Why would I go skinny-dipping? And I wouldn’t bother bring all of you with me kung yun ang binabalak ko.”
“Skinny-dipping pala mahal ah,” joined Maya. “Alam mo mahal, hindi ko akalain na mga ganyang adventures pala ang type mo.”
Richard fell more uncomfortable. “Mahal, I told you, we’re not here for some skinny-dipping. I’ve got a different surprise for all you guys.”
“Asus! Ang mahal ko naman nahiya pa sa amin! Don’t worry mahal. Okay lang naman sa amin kung gusto mo talagang i-try mag-skinny-dip eh,” teased Maya some more.
“Mahal, I told you. Hindi nga skinny-dipping ang ipinunta natin dito. Don’t be silly.” Richard couldn’t seem to hear the end of it when Nanay Teresita approached them.
“O nak? Ano ba yang skinny-dipping na nadinig kong ipinunta natin dito? Ano ba yun nak?” she asked.
Everyone started to laugh at her question while Richard’s discomfort continued.
“Ano kasi yun Nay –“ Maya started but Richard cut her off.
“Ah don’t mind them Nay. Yung skinny-dipping kasi is swimming sa beach. Kala nila yun ang pinunta natin dito but it’s not. I think we should start setting up the tents already or else, mami-miss natin yung talagang ipinunta natin dito,” he said.
“Ah ganun ba anak. Eh sige at mag-set-up na tayo.”
They started setting up their tents while Luke, Nikki, and Maya exchange knowing looks and laughed together.
As they’ve finally settled their things, they all gathered around by the shore.
“Mahal ano ba kasi yung surprise na sinasabi mo?” asked Maya.
Richard’s arm was wrapped around Maya’s shoulders, her head was rested on the crook of his neck and they were both covered with a blanket to keep them warm.
“Don’t worry. Malapit na. You’re gonna love it. I promise.” He placed a kiss on her forehead before looking back at the horizon.
A couple of minutes later, it finally showed. Bright streaks of red, pink, and orange slowly overcame the dark blue and purple of the twilight sky. The sky resembled a prism; all the colors blended perfectly into each other. The sun itself was just peeking out of the horizon. And as the morning progressed, brilliant rays slowly shines brightly and begins to warm the air.
Maya gaped at the beauty that beheld her. She’s completely taken in awe and was completely rendered speechless by its magnificence.
“Do you like it?” Richard asked without taking his eyes off the horizon. He didn’t hear any response nor felt any movement from her. He then looked at her face and saw a priceless reaction that he’d been wanting to get from her. He smiled. He then looked around and saw the awe and delight on everyone’s faces. His heart swelled with much pride. He once again turned his attention at the sunrise.
“Mahal ang ganda. Ang ganda ganda!” Maya finally blurted out.
Richard turned her gaze at his wife and smiled tenderly at her. Much more than the marvelous beauty of the scenery that beheld all of them, seeing the awe-inspired reaction from the woman that he so dearly loves, surpassed any magnificence that he ever laid his eyes on. “Yes mahal. Simply breathtaking.”
As the day at Crocodile Island progressed, they once again explored the island and noticed the different caves that can be found. They also climbed the rock formation and swam once again.
By afternoon, Sabel and Doris started to think of other things that they can possibly do on the island.
“Ano nga ba ang iba nating pwedeng gawin BFF?” asked Doris.
“Oo nga eh. Eh kung maglaro nalang kaya tayo?” suggested Sabel.
“Panong laro? Ano namang lalaruin natin?”
“Hmm.. Swimming! Tama! Swimming nalang!”
“Ano ka ba naman Sabel! Eh maghapon na nga tayong nag-su-swimming! Tignan mo nga at sunog na ang mga balat natin ka-s-swimming. Swimming na naman??!” glared Doris.
Sabel rolled her eyes. “Ikaw naman Doris! Masyado kang high-blood. Nagsu-suggest lang naman ako noh!”
“Eh ayus-ayusin mo naman kasi yang suggestion mo!”
“Oo na. Eto na eto na.” Sabel tried to think of other things that they can do. A second later, she snapped her fingers when an idea hit her. “Alam ko na BFF!!”
“Maglaro nalang tayo ng tagu-taguan!”
Doris stared at her in disbelief. “Tagu-taguan? Yun? Yun na ang brilliant idea mo?” Doris started shaking her head in disbelief.
“O ano namang sama sa tagu-taguan?”
“Sabel, ano ka ba? Hindi mo ba nakikitang beach ito? At mataas pa ang sikat ng araw! Saan ka naman magtatago dito aber?? At ang tagu-taguan sa gabi nilalaro hindi sa ganitong umagang tapat!”
Sabel laughed at Doris’ reasoning. “Hoy Doris. Unang-una, sinong may sabi na ang tagu-taguan ay sa gabi lang nilalaro? Umaga man yan, tanghali o gabi, pwedeng laruin yun noh!”
“O sige. Andun na ako. Pero sa beach?? Saan ka naman magtatago dito? Sa ilalim ng buhangin??”
Sabel lifted a finger in disbelief. “Tignan mo ito. BFF, nakalimutan mo na ba yung mga kwebang nakita natin? Yung mga punong nakapaligid? Yung mga batuhan na napuntahan natin??”
Doris paused for a while and smiled sheepishly at the realization. “Oo nga noh. Ang galling mo talaga BFF. Ang talino mo talaga! O sige, ayain natin sila Joma at kung sino pa ang gustong sumali sa atin. Halika na dali! Masaya ito!!”
They went back to the others and started inviting everyone who’s interested in joining them. Maya was enthused by the idea and eagerly joined the two. In the end, Doris and Sabel were able to form a group of eight comprising of Maya, Kute, Luke, Nikki, Abby, Cho, Doris, and Sabel.
As they started the game, Sabel was the first it. They found a place to call their base and Sabel started counting from 1 to 10 while the rest of the players tried to seek refuge from the caves, trees, and rocks.
“Ready or not, here I.. Teka. Ano nga ba yun? Come ba yun o comes? Ah alam ko na!” She cleared her throat and started to shout once more. “Ready or not, here I came!!”
Doris ran to one of the caves found on the island. As she settled herself inside, she was confident that Sabel won’t be able to find her at all.
“Pihadong hindi ako mahahanap ni Sabel dito!” she thought to herself as she contained her laughter.
She stayed inside for a couple of minutes, checking every now and then for any signs of Sabel. When she found none, she then turned her attention on the inside of the cave.
“Ang ganda din naman pala dito sa loob.”
She was raking her gaze around when she saw something move from afar. “Teka. Ano yun?” It was dark inside that she could hardly make of the object that she was seeing. Curiousity getting the best of her, she slowly and carefully went to where the object was. As she got nearer, she started to hear moans and grunts.
“Hala! Ano yung ingay na yun?” she thought, feeling creep out by the sound. “May tao ba jan? Sabel ikaw ba yan?” she called but no answer. Then she heard it again. “Naku! Malamang eh si Sabel yun at tinatakot ako! Takutan pala ha! Pwes makikita mo!”
She was about to turn around when the thing that caught her attention started moving again. “Ayun! Akala mo Sabel matatakot mo ako? Humanda ka sa akin ngayon!”
Thinking it was Sabel, slowly and ever carefully, she moved closer to where the movement was coming from. She was ready for her grand entrance when she started to realize what really was happening right before her eyes. Doris gasped and was in complete shock as what she thought was a simple moving object that Sabel is using to scare her, was actually a man’s butt who was obviously in the middle of some wild action.
As she regained back her senses, she started walking back to the cave’s entrance and started running back to the group.
“Sabel!!!” she shouted.
“Boom Doris!” Sabel shouted and started running to where the base is. “Save!!”
Recalling that they’re still in the middle of a game, Doris frantically went to their base and touched it but she was already too late, Sabel got to it first.
Sabel laughed heartily at her friend’s misfortune. “Talo ka bff! Ikaw ngayon ang taya!!”
Doris went to her friend and started tugging her arm. “Naku bff!! BFF!! BFF!!”
“Ano ka ba Doris! Pasensya ka talo ka! Ayoko ng maging taya pa ulit noh!”
“BFF!! BFF!! Naku BFF!!”
“Ano ka ba Doris! Puro ka bff! Ano ba kasi yun,” asked Sabel annoyingly.
“Eh kasi. Eh kasi! Naku!” Doris simply can’t seem to get the right words out.
“Doris, Sabel. Ano bang nangyayari sa inyong dalawa? Ok lang ba kayo?” asked Maya who noticed the frantic look on Doris.
Sabel turned to look at Maya. “Ay nako Mrs. Chief! Ewan ko ba dito kay Doris. Ayaw namang sabihin kung anong nangyayari sa kanya.” She paused then turned to Doris when an idea hit her. “Teka, hindi kaya namatanda ka Doris?”
“Hindi ako namatanda Sabel! Ano ka ba! Pero may kung ano akong nakita doon sa kweba!!!”
“May kung ano? Eh ano nga ba nakita mo doon sa kweba?” asked Sabel.
“Naku BFF! May nakita akong babae’t lalaki doon sa loob ng kweba!”
“Sus! BFF naman! Babae’t lalaki lang naman pala ang nakita mo! Ano to? First time mong makakita ng babae at lalaki? Eh ano nalang ang tawag mo sa amin?”
“BFF, tamang babae’t lalaki ang nakita ko sa kweba pero yung ginagawa nila, yun ang first time kong makita ng live!!”
“Eh ano ba naman kasi ang pwedeng gawin ng isang babae at ng isang lalaki sa loob ng kweba? Lalo na kung –“ Sabel paused, turned to look at Doris once more then her eyes went wide. “Wag mong sabihing?”
“Yun na nga mismo bff!!”
Sabel shrieked in utter delight. “Naku bff!! Saang kweba yan? Saang kweba yan dali!! Gusto kong makita! Gusto kong makita!!“
“Hoy! Ano bang nangyayari sa inyong dalawa? Sabel, bakit para kang kinikiliti jan? Ano ba yun? Ano ba yung tungkol sa babae at lalaking sinasabi niyo?” asked Maya, still oblivious at what the two were talking about.
“Mrs. Chief talaga o! May asawa na nga’t lahat, parang wala paring muwang sa mga ganitong bagay,” muttered Sabel.
“Ano yun Sabel?”
“Ay wala Mrs. Chief. Ang mabuti pa, sumama ka nalang sa amin ni Doris. Tara dali!!”
“Eh teka. Maganda siguro kung isama natin yung mga bata para –“
“Ay nako Mrs. Chief! Wag mong gagawin yan! Hindi kasi ito pang-bata. Basta halika na at sumama ka sa amin. Dali!” said Sabel excitedly as she half-dragged Maya with them who was waving at Richard.
As they got to the entrance of the cave, Doris gave last minute instructions to her companions to be quiet at all times.
“Eh ano nga ba kasing meron dito” Maya asked once more.
“Sshhhh!!” reprimanded Doris. “Wag kang maingay Mrs. Chief! Basta makikita mo rin.”
The three stealthily made their way in when they were suddenly stopped by the sight that beheld them: a man whose back was against them, had a woman pinned against the wall with her arms wrapped around his neck and her legs wrapped around his waist, as his lower body seemingly slams the woman against the wall in a rhythmic pattern.
As they halted in place, Doris caught her breath, Sabel’s eyes widened and smiled in delight, while Maya covered her mouth in complete shock. A few more seconds later, they heard someone speak from behind them in a low commanding tone.
“What’s the meaning of this?”
Regaining consciousness, the three pivoted around and saw Richard with furrowed brows, glaring at them.
“Ah eh. Ano po kasi ser. .” stuttered Doris and Sabel.
“Follow me outside. Now!” Richard gave them one last look at started marching out of the cave.
Maya immediately followed his lead, Doris marching behind them, while Sabel glancing one more look at the strangers.
“Sabel, sabi ni ser follow him outside na daw!” Doris half-dragged Sabel as they went out of the cave.
As they got back to their Villas, they had their dinner and retired to their respective rooms. Everything has been going well except for the tension building between Richard and Maya which had remained oblivious to the rest of the group.
“Mahal? Galit ka ba? Uy mahal?” Maya tugged the hem of Richard’s shirt who still refused to talk to her after the incident at the cave. “Mahal.
At bakit kailangan pa nilang panoorin pa iyon?”
Maya grew uncomfortable at the thought. “Ano mahal. Siguro na-curious lang sila. Malay mo nagulat kasi sino ba naman ang mag-aakalang may makikita kang ganon sa loob ng kweba.” Maya chuckled.
Richard raised a brow at his wife. “At natutuwa ka pa ngayon?”
“Eh hindi naman sa ganon mahal. Nakakahiya din kaya yung nangyari. Hindi nga ako makatingin sa kanila eh.”
Richard started to see humor in the whole situation. “Hindi makatingin? Eh kung hindi pa nga ako nagsalita sa likod niyo hindi maaalis ang mga tingin niyo doon sa dalawa. Titig na titig nga kayo.”
Maya slapped Richard’s arm. “Ricky!” she reprimanded. “Ang sama mo! Syempre nagulat ako! Ano bang malay ko na yun ang ipapakita sa akin ng dalawa.”
“Talaga lang ha? Eh bakit parang enjoy na enjoy ka pa sa kapapanood kanina?” teased Richard some more.
Maya’s face fully heated up. She covered her face with her hands as she stubbornly stomped her foot. “Ricky!!!” growled Maya irritably which simply earned a hearty laugh from Richard. “Nakakainis ka na ha!”
Richard moved close to his wife and gathered her in his arms. “Ok hindi na. Hindi na kita aasarin pa.”
Maya peeked through her fingers first before totally removing her hands from her face. “Hindi ka na galit pa sa akin?”
Richard sighed. “Hindi na but I still should remind Doris and Sabel not to drag you sa kung ano mang kalokohang naiisip nila. Paano nalang kung may nangyaring masama sa inyo? This should never happen again.”
“Sorry mahal. Promise hinding hindi na talaga ito mangyayari pa ulit. Pero mahal, hinay hinay lang sa dalawa ha. Wag tiger mode again. Sigurado namang hindi rin naman nila sinasadya yung mga nangyari.”
Letting out a sigh, Richard smiled and conceded to his wife’s request. “Ok, sige.”
“Thanks mahal!” she tip-toed and gave Richard a peck on his check before hugging him tight.
“Tulog na tayo?”
“Mmm.. Di pa kasi ako inaantok mahal eh. Saka.”
“Ano kasi eh.”
Richard smiled. “What is it mahal?”
“Hindi kaya mahirap yun?”
Richard tried to stifle a laugh. “Ang alin?”
“Eh ano kasi mahal. Yung ginagawa nung dalawa kanina sa kweba. Parang ang hirap. Di kaya nabibigatan yung lalaki tapos yung babae hindi kaya nasasaktan yun?”
Richard let out the laugh he was trying to control.
“Mahal naman eh! Sige na nga matulog na tayo.” Maya tried to disengage from the hug but Richard prevented her.
“Ok hindi na ako tatawa. How will I say this. Hindi siya mahirap at hindi siya masakit. Siguro right after, say after a few hours or the next day, mafe-feel nila yung aftermath,” explained Richard.
“Ah. Pero mahal bakit naman sa tingin mo doon pa nila naisipang gawin yun? Hindi ba nila naisip na pwedeng may mga taong makakita sa kanila? Dapat sa hotel o kaya sa bahay nalang nila ginawa yun. Hindi yung sa ganong lugar.”
Richard chuckled. “You know mahal, there could be plenty of reasons kung bakit doon nila naisipang gawin yun. For some, they feel like the time and place is right. The mood is right. For others, the thought of being caught adds up to the ecstacy that they’re feeling right at the moment giving them additional pleasure. There are those adventurous types who don’t mind where they’re doing it.”
Maya just listened to every word that Richard shares her. “Eh ikaw mahal? Kaya mo bang gawin yun?”
Though taken aback by her question, Richard found the voice to answer her back. “Well, I’ve never done it before. But would you want to?”
Discomfort seeping through her again, Maya ignored his question and decided to end the discussion. “Naku mahal. Alam mo gabing gabi na. Saka ang dami din nating ginawa ngayong araw na ito. Kakapagod. Mabuti pa matulog na tayo.”
Sensing her discomfort, Richard decided not to press on the issue anymore and followed her lead. They both went to bed and cuddled against each other.
“Good night mahal,” said Maya.
“Good night mahal. I love you,” replied Richard.
“I love you too!” They kissed each other good night and tried to doze off to sleep.
